Where to sail or cruise in December

Cruise through crystal-clear waters and dance along palm-lined white-sand beaches in the beautiful British Virgin Islands. The calm conditions make it the ideal destination for all abilities, with easy line-of-sight navigation, deep water sailing, and steady breezes. Take a trip to Anegada and dine on freshly caught lobster, or take a hike and reward yourself with a drink and a view in one of the many exclusive hilltop bars. November and January are ideal times to cruise around the BVI if you prefer a little more seclusion, with temperatures reaching 29°.

Sailing The British Virgin Islands

For travellers seeking an intimate paradise in the Bahamas, the Abacos offers an alternative to the Exumas with more manageable line-of-sight cruising and a variety of islands, cays, beaches, towns, bars, and restaurants – all accessible within very short distances, making it well-suited for charterers of all experience levels. In the winter months, for sailors, there are stronger northwesterly breezes and temperatures between 18°C and 26°C.

Where to sail or cruise in January

With a range of non-stop long-haul flights, in less than nine hours, you could soon be relaxing on white-sand beaches and snorkelling off the back of your state-of-the-art charter platform in Antigua. If you are lucky, you could be swimming amongst endangered Hawsbill sea turtles. On land, take a scenic hike to historic Fort Barrington in Antigua and zipline through the lush rainforest.

Carlisle Bay Antigua

It’s also outside school holidays, so your trip might be a little quieter. Boasting a vibrant culture and more than a hundred beaches to explore, Antigua is a supreme Caribbean hot spot to enjoy during the winter. At this time of year, temperatures are between 22°C and 27°C, though the year-round sunshine means it’s always the perfect time to book your Caribbean adventure.
