Part Four: Bringing Paradise to You—Home Edition

It’s week number four and we’re still going strong—doing our part to lift each other’s spirits, while remaining socially distant, and selflessly following stay-at-home orders. Hopefully our lives will get back to normal soon, but until then, here are some ways to make the best of the current situation by Bringing Paradise to You…

Game Time

Beach bar games in the BVI

If you can’t be at the beach bar, bring the beach bar to you! Brush up on your outdoor game skills from your own backyard by building regulation cornhole boards, a giant Jenga set, or ring on a string. If you’re eager to start playing or simply aren’t in the mood for a DIY project, you can always purchase an original hook and ring game from Soggy Dollar’s online boutique, which is a sure-fire way to capture some of that happy-go-lucky BVI charm that we just can’t get enough of.

Aromatherapy

Mer Sea candles and other products

Use scented candles, oil diffusers, or room sprays to allow the sweet smell of salty sea breezes to waft through your house. As an added bonus, the fragrance of ocean air has known healing effects on the body and can help you de-stress during these homebound days.

Go Green

Green plants in white flower pots

If we can’t be sunbathing on a palm-tree studded beach, we’ll settle for an indoor plant that looks like it belongs in the middle of a miniature island paradise. Upgrading your window sill with a low-maintenance palm plant not only purifies the air in your home, but it’s also pretty to look at. Plus, studies have shown that the presence of leafy greens in a workspace can improve focus and overall mental health.

Hydrate

Reusable water bottles

Drink water. Plenty of water. It seems simple enough but it’s not always easy to consume the recommended eight glasses of water per day. One of the things that we like to do to avoid dehydration is use an insulated drink bottle that travels well and can be refilled throughout the day. Not only is this an eco-friendly habit but it’s also an opportunity to express your personality because let’s be honest—it’s much more fun drinking H-2-O from a bottle that reveals your favorite sports team, yacht club, or company logo.

Wake Up Call

Anchor chain, seagull, ocean waves - sounds of the sea

There are many things that make a Moorings charter vacation special and memorable, but it’s the “simple pleasures” that really set it apart—like the feeling of being gently rocked to sleep by the sea in the evenings and waking up to the unmistakable sound of a rolling anchor chain each morning. To enjoy this sound from the comfort of your own bed, simply update your alarm clock settings by adding your own recording or downloading a new sound clip.

Get Crafty

Beach chairs at Cow Wreck Beach Anegada BVI

Take a break from real-world worries and let your creativity loose with a fun DIY project – custom-painted adirondack chairs. Whether you want an iconic Cow Wreck style chair in solid yellow or would rather paint a multi-colored masterpiece that mimics your personality, one thing is for sure—the finished product gives you a great place to unwind with a glass of wine, and it feels like your own piece of island paradise.
